The bright promise of New Year’s Day quickly gives way to the cold realities of January, February and March here in Central Virginia. Little sun, cloudy, drizzly, sleety, damp, cold and windy. It’s tempting to hibernate until spring, but there are parties to attend, business to conduct, and weekends to get away from it all. We here at Leviner Wood recommend hard-wearing, exceptionally comfortable, and good-looking clothing that will see you through winter in cozy fashion without making you look like you’re trying too hard.
Think classic tweed and comfortable moleskin. Both fabrics work really well together and can pair up with everything from cashmere to denim, flannel to waxed cotton, and ultralight down to your LL Bean duck boots.
The Harris Tweed jacket is cut with a ticket pocket, and has suede elbow patches to cover the stress points and a suede throat latch that, when done up, eliminates the need for a scarf while still keeping the winds at bay. The suede details match nicely with the moleskin trousers in our house style featuring dress trouser details like besome back pockets with a five-pocket jeans cut. The best of both worlds, in our opinion, letting them go from casual to business appropriate.
For those of you who like a bit of warmth with a lot of style, skip the expected and add a Harris Tweed vest under a blazer or over a (custom Leviner Wood, of course) shirt and jeans. The extra pockets are extremely useful. This client has added vintage buttons (including the extra a the bottom, based on a vintage vest in his collection.) Bemberg lining lets it breathe in climate controlled environments — read: “everywhere we live.”
Start 2020 off right and look good doing it.
